Iran Press/ Iran news: "About 10% of GDP and employment in the world is related to the tourism industry," Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi said during a visit to the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Exhibition on Monday.
Vahidi added: "This statistic is about 5% in Iran, which should be developed in various fields such as religious and health tourism and find its main share in the economy."
Emphasizing the need for tourism development, Vahidi said: "Tourism development means getting to know more ethnic groups, which in its own way strengthens national unity and solidarity."
Referring to the need to strengthen cultural identities, the Iranian Interior Minister added: "Culture is the main infrastructure of a country, and serious attention should be paid to cultural identities, including Islamic lifestyles and clothing."
The 15th International Exhibition of Tourism and Related Industries is open to the public until tomorrow at the permanent location of Tehran International Exhibitions.
