Takht Ravanchi:

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi emphasized that the threats from the United States and the Israeli regime are nothing new, and they are aware of Iran's real power.

Why it matters:

Although the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been the direct and indirect target of threats from the United States and Israel, Iran's power as one of the important countries in the region has always played a significant role in preventing the advancement of the conspiracies of the United States and Israel.

What he is saying:

"If the U.S. and Israel make a mistake against Iran, they will pay a heavy price," Takht-Ravanchi told Iraq’s Al-Ahed TV.

He added, "Iran's Supreme Leader has outlined the framework for negotiations with the U.S., and we remain committed to that framework."

"Our policy and strategy regarding nuclear weapons are very clear—the Supreme Leader has declared them forbidden. During President Rouhani’s administration, we reached an agreement after tough negotiations, but the U.S. failed to uphold its commitments under both Obama and Trump, and we must not forget this history."

"We are currently negotiating with European countries, and both sides are eager to move forward within an established framework to reach an agreement," he said.

Key points:

  • Iran insists that external powers should not interfere in the country’s internal affairs.
  • There is no internal disagreement within Iran regarding the Syria file, according to Takht-Ravanchi.
  • Iran respects the will of the Syrian people and will engage with any new Syrian government that emerges.
  • Iran seeks to expand relations with Iraq at all levels, emphasizing its commitment to regional cooperation.
  • Takht-Ravanchi highlighted the vast opportunities for improving Iran-Saudi relations, suggesting that these should be leveraged to restore ties to their best possible state.
