Iran's Foreign Ministry Spox.:

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei stated that the Israeli regime is exploiting the situation in Syria to escalate the genocide in Gaza.

Iran Press/Iran news: Esmaeil Baghaei said: "The international community has called for a stand in support of humanity and to end the century-long ongoing genocide in Palestine."

Baghaei wrote on his page on the X social network this afternoon, Monday, December 8: "Genocide is a set of actions committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group. Today coincides with the ratification of the Universal Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, adopted on December 9, 1948.

He said: "76 years after the ratification of the treaty that was supposed to ensure that genocide would not be repeated in the world, a full-scale genocide is taking place in occupied Palestine before our eyes. According to the October 2024 report by Francesca Albanese, the Special Rapporteur on Palestinian Human Rights to the Human Rights Council, Israel was established to annihilate Palestine, and its entire political system is aimed at advancing this goal.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated: “In fact, genocide is part of the colonial annihilation project in Palestine that has been underway for a century; [this genocide] is a stain on the international system and humanity and must be stopped and subject to judicial investigation and prosecution.”

Baghaei added: “The International Court of Justice issued clear rulings long ago, on January 26, 2024, stating the need to stop genocide and prevent any action contrary to the Genocide Convention.”

He continued: “The occupying regime has not complied with any of the Court’s six interim orders in this regard and continues to commit genocide. These days, the Israeli regime is exploiting the complicated situation in Syria to intensify the genocide in Gaza.” It is time for the international community to stand up in support of humanity and end this century-long ongoing genocide.
