Iran Press/West Asia: Speaking on Friday, Basem Naim, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, revealed that efforts have been reactivated to halt the genocide and to secure the release of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails. Naim, speaking to the Associated Press in Turkey, expressed cautious optimism about reaching an agreement.
“A deal to end the 14-month Israeli aggression is hopefully within reach,” he stated, but he acknowledged that no concrete or fully developed ceasefire proposal has yet been put forth by mediators.
“I think it is not a big challenge to reach a deal... if there are intentions on the other side,” Naim added, emphasizing that progress hinges on Israel's willingness to engage constructively.
The resumption of negotiations comes after months of continued Israeli genocide in Gaza, which have led to significant humanitarian concerns in Gaza and heightened calls for a peaceful resolution from the international community.
