Iran Press/ Iran news: The signing ceremony of the joint cooperation agreement in the field of design, construction, operation, equipping, RSS rotary-guided drilling, and related technologies was held last night (Monday).
The contract is in line with the cooperation of the Ministry of Oil with the vice presidency in science and in line with the 2 billion dollar memorandum that was concluded on the sidelines of the Oil and Gas Exhibition held this year.
RSS horizontal drilling machine is a high-tech oil drilling equipment that only three countries in the world have this technology, and by signing this agreement, Iran also joined the group of countries that have this technology.
Reza Sultanalizadeh, assistant of the Vice President for Science, Technology, and Economy, referring to the conclusion of the contract for the Horizontal Deviation Drilling Rigs (RSS) project with the Ministry of Oil, said: "Since 2004, the need to obtain this equipment was felt in the country, And since 1990, the country has been looking for its import."
Sultanalizadeh considered the RSS horizontal drilling machine to include parts such as mechanical, electronic, petroleum, and advanced guidance equipment and reminded: "In this method, drilling must be done underground, while there is no access to GPS."
Stating that the horizontal drilling machine needs other technologies in addition to the components of this machine, he said that the example is how to apply cement on the horizontal drilling roof.
He emphasized: "These complications have caused the technical manufacturing of these types of equipment to be in the hands of only 3 countries in the world: the US, England, and China."
"This equipment is made in 3 types, and all 3 types of this equipment are needed by the country," he concluded.
