Algiers (IP) - The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Algeria met and consulted with the Algerian Speaker of the Parliament to boost bilateral ties.

Iran PressAfrica: Mohammad Reza Babaei, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Algeria, met the Speaker of the People's National Assembly (lower house of Parliament), Ibrahim Boughali.

In this meeting, the two sides stressed the bilateral relations and ways to expand ties, as well as expanding economic and commercial relations and bringing them to the level of political relations.

The Speaker of the Algerian Parliament stressed the support of cooperation and coordination between the parliaments of the two countries and the activation of parliamentary relations.

Iran's Ambassador pointed to the distinct relations between the two countries and praised the honorable, special, and strategic positions of Algiers in the regional and international arena.

In this meeting, Babaei congratulated Algeria on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and praised the country's efforts to approve the bill on respect for religions in the Human Rights Council.

Recently, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf came to Tehran on an official visit and met and talked with senior officials of our country, including Ebrahim Raisi and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, President and Foreign Minister of Iran.
