Syrian President paid an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman on Monday and was received at the special Royal Airport by the Sultan of Oman to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation.

Iran PressMiddle East: Bashar al-Assad and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq held talks at Al Baraka Al-Amer Palace in Muscat in the presence of the two official delegations.

Sultan bin Tariq extended his sincere condolence to President al-Assad and the Syrian people over the devastating earthquake.

He underscored that his country will continue its support to Syria till the country overcome the quake impacts and repercussions of the sanctions on the Syrian people.

President al-Assad, for his part, voiced his gratitude to Sultan Haitham and the Omani people for their solidarity with Syria and the relief aid they have dispatched, underlining that the greater thanks are for Oman’s stance in support of Syria during the terrorist war imposed on it.

The talks dealt with fraternal relations and the areas of joint cooperation as both sides agreed to further enhance the bilateral cooperation and upgrade it in all domains, with President al-Assad asserting that exchanged trust and deep understanding strongly link the two countries.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the international and regional arenas in addition to the efforts aiming at strengthening security and stability in the region.

President al-Assad considered that the Sultanate has always preserved its balanced policy as well as its credibility and that the region needs its role that serves their peoples on the basis of the exchanged respect and non-interference in the affairs of other states.

Sultan bin Tareq, in turn, said that Syria is a brotherly country and that Oman is looking forward to seeing it return to its normal relations with all other Arab States.

A closed-door discussion followed the official talks, before President al-Assad and the accompanying delegation leave Muscat.
