Syrian air defences intercept Israeli missiles

Syrian air defences intercepted and downed Israeli regime's missiles over the capital Damascus, state media said early on Thursday 6 February.

Iran Press/Middle East:  Syrian air defences on early Thursday 6 February intercepted missile attack by Israeli regime over the capital Damascus, according to Syrian media outlets.

Syrian state-run Ikhbariyah TV said the attack was launched from over the Golan Heights as well as through Lebanese airspace. State news agency SANA said air defenses downed most of the missiles before they reached their targets.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The Israeli regime has carried out frequent air and missile strikes against targets inside Syria since the country descended into civil war in 2011. Most have been against what Israel said were Iranian targets or positions of Iran’s Lebanese ally, Hezbollah. The war in Syria has killed more than 370,000 people and displaced millions more.
