Syria, Iraq, and developments in Lybia were discussed in meeting with Syrian officials

Iran's deputy of foreign minister Ali Asghar Khaji, who is in Syria for a diplomatic mission, told the reporters that situations in Syria, Iraq, and Libya were among the topics he discussed with Syrian officials.

Iran Press/ Middle East: "During the trip, I met Syrian President Bashar Al Assad and Foreign Minister Walid Muallem and the latest developments in the region, the situation in Syria and internationally were discussed," Khaji said.

"The presence of the Syrian army on its border with Turkey can help the security on the two countries' borders," Khaji underscored.

"The Syrian government's sovereignty over its country has continued with the fight against terrorism in various areas and good progress has been made," he highlighted.

"The constitutional committee has been formed and it has held two sessions and the third one will be held. The Syrian government's cooperation with the Constitutional Committee has been very positive and will continue," the diplomat said.

"Iran and Syria condemn the US presence and occupation on Syrian soil, and the two countries want US withdrawal from Syria, and we believe that this presence has merely triggered unrest in the region. At the same time, the Syrian government also condemned the recent US invasions into Iraq" the foreign minister deputy continued," he added.

"I also discussed the latest developments in the region, especially Libya, during the meeting with the Syrian officials," he concluded.
