Swiss ambassador to Iran Markus Leitner said his country will celebrate 100 years of diplomatic relations with Iran.

Iran PressIran news: "Our diplomatic presence started with Swiss tourists coming to Iran," he told Iran Press on Tuesday on the sidelines of a ceremony to unveil and display the single object of Achaemenid Guard statute.

Leitner who took part in the ceremony at the Milad Tower Museum of Mashahir said Iran and Switzerland have signed a letter of intentions between Tourism Departments.

Expressing the hope that more Swiss tourists will visit Iran, the envoy said Iran's cultural heritage has turned it into a tourist attraction.

The Swiss envoy whose country also runs the US Interest Section in Tehran welcomed the returning of the historic relic from the United States after 80 years and said it adds to Iran's tourism attractions.
