IP - The Foreign Minister of Switzerland announced: In a phone call with Bagheri-Kani, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, I expressed my concerns about the high risks of escalation of tensions in the region.

Iran Press/EuropeSwiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis added: I conveyed Switzerland's commitment to prioritizing restraint, moderation, and pursuing a diplomatic path to ease tensions.

Western countries' authorities have made numerous calls to Iranian authorities and asked for restraint and reduction of tension, while these countries did not even agree to condemn the aggressive action of the Zionist regime in violation of the sovereignty and internal security of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Ali Bagheri Keni, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, said earlier in a phone call with the Austrian Foreign Minister: The European side practically blocked all diplomatic channels by not condemning the clear terrorist aggression and along with the US, even preventing the UN Security Council from condemning the assassination of the Hamas chief as well as any effective and deterrent decision against the Zionist regime.

Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of Hamas, was assassinated in Tehran on July 31, 2024, while attending the swearing-in ceremony of the new president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.204
