Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi

Tehran (IP) - The spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry said that the Zionist regime's expansion of its settlements are a violation of international law and in line with the shameful plan of the 'Deal of the Century'.

Iran PressIran News: "The recent movements of the Zionist regime in expanding the settlement and annexing parts of the West Bank to the 1948 occupied territories are considered as a violation of international law and in line with the shameful plan of the Deal of the Century," said Seyyed Abbas Mousavi on Sunday.

Mousavi called such illegal actions as a violation of international law and a threat to peace and security in the region and called on the United Nations and other international bodies to act within the framework of their duties and responsibilities.

Referring to exploiting the coronavirus crisis by the Zionist regime, the official stated: "The oppressed people of Palestine are fighting coronavirus simultaneously with viruses such as occupation, siege, and sanctions."

Mousavi called on international organizations and associations, as well as countries around the world, to help the Palestinian people and not allow the oppressed Palestinian people to be displaced again.

At the end of his remarks, the Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed that the land of Palestine belongs to the Palestinian people saying that the Zionist regime is an occupying regime, and the only solution to the Palestinian crisis is to hold a referendum among the main inhabitants of the land and establish an independent Palestinian state with Beit-ul-Moqaddas as its capital.

UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov also has issued a warning against the Zionist regime’s plan to annex parts of the occupied West Bank, saying such a move constitutes a serious violation of international law and would be a "devastating blow" to the so-called two-state solution.

The so-called Deal of the Century plan was unveiled earlier this year by US President Donald Trump was rejected by the Palestinians and condemned by much of the international community. The plan gave Israel the green light to annex settlements and other strategic territories in the occupied West Bank.
