Iran Press/ Iran news: The Speaker of Iran's parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf during a meeting on Wednesday with Salah al-Zawawi, the Palestinian ambassador to Tehran, said: "The issue of Palestine is a matter for Islam, not just a political issue. Even before the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, his associates, and the revolutionaries were concerned about occupied Palestine, and the importance of this issue increased for all Iranians after the Islamic Revolution."
The Iranian Speaker, referring to the need for stability in the path of resistance to victory and pointing to the positions of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran in support of the liberation of Holy Quds, added: "Iran's support for Palestine and Gaza reflects our principled policy toward Palestine. The Zionist regime thought that with the passage of time and the change of generation, young Palestinians will forget their land and history, while seven decades after the occupation of the historical land of Palestine, the Palestinian youth, despite many hardships, displacement, and war, have become more determined to achieve their goals and liberate their homeland."
Salah al-Zawawi, the Palestinian ambassador to Tehran, congratulated Qalibaf on his election as speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, calling Iran a great and important country in the region and noted: "After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini made the plan operational which challenged the hostile American-Zionist plan".
The Palestinian ambassador went on to say that the US-Zionist plan did not only concern Palestine but also affected Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq, as well as part of Saudi Arabia, noting: "The Zionist regime sought to expand its territory with the implementation of this plan, while Imam Khomeini prevented the realization of these goals."
