Iran Press/Middle East: "The trilateral summit of Russia-Iran-Turkey will take place in Sochi on February 14," the Turkish foreign minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu told Hurriyet newspaper on Thursday.
The situation in Idlib, the Syrian de-escalation zone and aftermath of the US troops withdrawal from Syria will be on the agenda of the upcoming Syrian settlement meeting. The presidents of the three countries Vladimir Putin, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Hassan Rouhani, will attend the Sochi summit.
Tehran Summit
The 11th summit on Syria peace talks attended by the leaders of the three countries, was held in September 2018 in Tehran.
On 30 July 2018, representatives of Russia, Iran and Turkey as the guarantor nations for the Syrian ceasefire met in Sochi. One day later on 31 July, representatives agreed on the draft of a final statement to be issued at the 10th Syria international peace conference. Putting an end to Idlib tension was the most important part of the deal reached in Sochi.
At the Sochi meeting Hossein Jaberi Ansari, Senior Assistant of Iran's Foreign Minister, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey Sedat Onal and Russian President’s Special Envoy for Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev participated.
Turkey and Russia reached an agreement on 17 September to establish a “demilitarised zone” in Idlib.
The ninth round of Syria peace talks participated by representatives of Iran, Russi, and Turkey as well as the UN chief's special envoy on Syria was held in Astana in May 2018. 205/ 211 /103
