Iran Press/Europe: "A possible collapse of the agreement would be the result of a unilateral illegitimate exit by the United States from the deal and inability of European partners to guarantee the conditions that were proposed to Iran," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a news briefing, reported Iran Press.
Zakharova noted that the US policy of confrontation with Iran is destructive as well as short-sighted. Without Tehran's participation, it is impossible to build a strong regional security architecture in the Middle East, or to stabilize the situation in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and other neighboring countries, she said.
Washington looks at the struggle against terrorism through the prism of its geopolitical goals, using double standards and dividing international terrorist organizations into bad ones, which oppose the United States, and those who do the same however are not openly called an enemy, Zakharova said.
Russia has never seen a terrorist threat in Iran, she said, adding that Iranians themselves have repeatedly been the victims of attacks by extremist groups.
On 8 May 2017, the US after withdrawing from the 2015 deal, imposed unilateral sanctions against Iran, but the EU countries vowed to set up a trade mechanism called INSTEX to secure Iran's basic rights in accordance to the historical deal but as Iran says E3 can't secure Iran's interests. No practical measures have been undetaken yet to launch the mechanism for trade with Iran known as INSTEX.
On the same date, Iran notified its remaining partners in the deal that it would suspend the implementation of some of its commitments as a "wake-up call' to spur the European signatories to honour their end of the bargain. Iran on 7 July announced more reductions in its commitments to the 2015 nuclear deal at the end of a 60-day ultimatum.
The spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said the country will enrich uranium more than 20% in the 3rd step of easing its commitments in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The measure was taken in line with the Islamic Republic’s legal rights under Articles 26 and 36 of the JCPOA.
On October 10, 2019, The spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi in a televised program explained further steps in reducing Iran's commitments under the nuclear agreement 2015 and saying the nuclear industry has served as a source of authority.
