'Will the ministers gather again? I believe it is highly likely. I think it may happen on the sidelines of the ministerial segment of the General Assembly in late September,' Russia's TASS news agency reported, citing Kremlin’s Permanent Representative to the Vienna-based international organizations, Mikhail Ulyanov.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (the US, France, Britain, China, and Russia) plus Germany signed the nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), in 2015.
Iran accepted to curb its nuclear program in exchange for economic sanctions relief.
The latest meeting of the foreign ministers was held on 6 July in Vienna.
Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif and EU high representative Federica Mogherini met at a working breakfast at Palais Coburg Hotel of Vienna before the ministerial meeting with FMs of P4+1.
The meeting was intended to give a chance to Zarif and Mogherini to exchange ideas prior to the ministerial meeting of the day with foreign ministers of Russia, UK, Germany, France and China.
US President Donald Trump announced Washington's withdrawal from the nuclear agreement on 8 May. Trump also said he would reinstate US nuclear sanctions on Iran and impose “the highest level” of economic bans on the Islamic Republic.
Washington has also re-imposed the economic sanctions the first set of which will take effect on August 6.
Under the JCPOA, Iran undertook to put limits on its nuclear program in exchange for the removal of nuclear-related sanctions imposed against Tehran.
