Iran Press/ Europe: Sergey Lavrov at the news conference with Hossein Amir-Abdullahian on Wednesday said: "Today, in the framework of the Iranian Foreign Minister's visit to Moscow, we discussed trade relations and the process of producing Sputnikov vaccine."
The Russian diplomat added: "Despite US sanctions, trade with Iran has increased by 42%."
He also said about the negotiations of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action(JCPOA): "The way to resolve disputes about the JCPOA is through the implementation of Resolution 2231. I do not accept the unfounded principles of the West and the United States and imposing them on others."
Iran-Russia positive contribution for hosting Afghan migrants
"Afghanistan should not be a source of regional threat and the threat of terrorism and drug trafficking should be stopped," Lavrov said regarding Afghanistan developments."
"We are witnessing a positive contribution from Iran in hosting one million Afghan refugees," he said, referring to the presence of Afghan refugees in Iran.
"We will continue to cooperate with Iran and Turkey in the framework of the Astana talks," Lavrov said.
3+3 format for solving the Caucasus crisis
Lavrov said of developments in the Caucasus: "We have repeatedly stated our position. Russia halted the war in Nagorno-Karabakh last year."
Russian Foreign Minister referring to the possibility of creating a "3+3" format, which will include Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Iran, Russia, and Turkey, said "Today we talked with our Iranian counterpart and suggested three countries of Caucasus (Republic of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia) to negotiate with Iran, Russia and Turkey within the framework of the 3+3 group. This suggestion was evaluated positively."
Russia's Foreign Minister has stressed that the country has no desire for change in the region's geopolitics.
Elsewhere in the news conference, Lavrov announced that Moscow and Tehran had agreed to hold a meeting between Vladimir Putin and Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, the presidents of Russia and Iran.
Regarding the Vienna talks, Lavrov said that Iran would decide in the near future on the timing of the resumption of the JCPOA-related talks in Vienna.
