Iran Press/ Middle East: December 27th, 2020 marked the twelfth anniversary of Israel’s brutal aggression over Gaza, which lasted for 22 days and left hundreds of victims.
Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, called this aggression as 'Battle of al-Furqan' in which Israel could not achieve its goals.
On December 27th, 2008 at 11 o’clock, Israeli forces shelled different security sites with 80 military planes causing the death of more than 200 martyrs, most of them are security men.
In a statement issued on the occasion of the twelfth anniversary of Israel’s brutal aggression over Gaza in 2008, the movement announced that on this day, the Zionist enemy attacked the Gaza Strip for three consecutive weeks, killing hundreds of Palestinians, injuring thousands more, and destroying homes, mosques, schools, hospitals, and many medical and service centers along the way.
Islamic Jihad Movement added: "This war was a turning point in the history of resistance and stability of the Palestinian people, during which the resistance groups proved that they stand as a stronghold against the crimes of the Zionist enemy against the Palestinian nation."
The movement stressed that the Palestinian nation remains committed to its principles and ideals and that the betrayal of those who normalize relations with the Zionist enemy will never weaken this nation.

The statement reads that the Zionist enemy did not succeed in achieving its goals either in this battle or in its subsequent crimes, and in the subsequent battles we witnessed the strengthening of the resistance, which, by the grace and help of God, is in the best possible condition today.
Islamic Jihad once again stressed the continuation of jihad and struggle until the liberation of the Palestinian territories from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea from the occupation of Israel.
The 'Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement' (Hamas) issued this statement on the anniversary of the 'Battle of al-Furqan' (2008) to stress the liberation of all Palestinian lands from Israeli occupation, adding that the Zionists would have no place in the Palestinian territories.
In the 2008 attack, 1,438 Palestinians were martyred and 5,400 residents of the Gaza Strip were injured. In addition, more than 4,100 residential units in the area were completely destroyed and another 17,000 units were damaged.
