Tehran (IP) - We need some changes in defining health protocols and we need proper ones based on regions, head of Medical Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Reza Zafarqandi said.

Iran Press/Iran News: In response to Iran Press's question on starting quarantine again and its effect on controlling the coronavirus epidemic, head of Medical Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Reza Zafarqandi said that we need temporary closure in some activities.

As Tehran’s governor said that seminars and sports activities must stop as soon as possible, he highlighted.

As Tehran is a metropolis, different decisions must be made based on each region’s condition, he added.

30% of government employee personnel in cities that are on alert or in red condition will telework to decrease crowed and traffic jams in those cities, he concluded.

Head of Medical Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Reza Zafarqandi attending a press conference on Wednesday said that after 6 months fighting coronavirus, we witnessed proper control by the efforts of people and medical staff, but shortly after it the infected cases increased sharply.

Zafarqandi said that based on our duty protecting people and the medical community’s lives is our priority.

More than 5000 of doctors and nurses and 10,000 medical staff suffered from COVID-19, and 140 of them lost their lives.

Today, the spokeswoman for Iran's Ministry of Health said that the Ministry registered  2,388 new cases in 24h, leading to a total of 264,561 cases.
