Tehran (IP) - Iran’s President emphasized the importance and necessity of retaining and attracting academic elites.

Iran PressIran news: Emphasizing the importance and necessity of retaining and attracting academic elites, President Ebrahim Raisi said: "The government does not intend to ignore the concerns and statements of the Leader of the Revolution regarding retaining elites only as a recommendation, but is determined to work on strengthening grounds for attracting and retaining elites."

Speaking on Tuesday in a meeting with professors and technologists of the Sharif University of Technology, Ebrahim Raisi stated that elites and university technologists are the country's assets, adding: "The government and the university should work together to resolve the concerns and problems of these loved ones and facilitate their contribution to the country."

The President said that Sharif University should be a pioneer in retaining the elite, adding: "One of the important reasons for my presence at Sharif University of Technology was that this university is an important centre for attracting elites in the country and has a very important role in this field."

In another part of his speech, Raisi pointed out that today it is necessary to create change in all areas of the country, and said: "Changing the current situation to the desired situation should be based on science and innovation, and in this regard, universities, professors and educated students have a prominent role."

Raisi added: "With science and technology, we can create change in various fields of industry and agriculture and no longer sell raw materials, and this is possible as we have made significant progress in the industries that were under the most restrictions and sanctions."

Emphasizing the need for close cooperation between the government and the university, the President said, "The government has tried to reduce the distance between itself and the people in the last 100 days, and it is necessary to bridge the gap between the government and the university as well."

Raisi emphasized: "The university is a scientific, intellectual and technological support for the government, which can contribute to the government's activities with considerable accuracy and speed in all areas."

Raisi emphasized that all governmental bodies should use domestic capabilities and facilities, adding: "Government departments and companies do not have the right to use foreign products when there are domestic goods with the necessary quality and standards."

Raisi added: "The distribution of research budgets needs to be smart and lead to the needs and problems of the country."

In this meeting, a number of professors of the Sharif University of Technology expressed their views and opinions regarding the government's support for research and academic activities and the close relationship between the government and the university.

All economic parts of the government work in harmony

Referring to a student's remarks about the inconsistency of the government's economic team, the President said, "All the economic parts of the government are in harmony with each other, while in the government we try to hear the words and opinions of all economic experts."

Referring to another student's speech about the government's economic situation at the time of taking office, the President said, "Today, the government is paying monthly salary of 10 trillion tomans of previous invoices".

"In spite of all these problems, efforts have been made to increase the country's revenues and oil and condensate exports, as the amount of exports has increased by 40% during this period," he said.

Raisi added, "After the visit to Tajikistan, the volume of economic exchanges with the country has tripled."

Referring to some of the government's work in the past 100 days, Raisi said, "Before this period, we saw some disorders in the country and about 700 people died every day due to COVID-19 and the market and production situation was disrupted, but the current situation of coronavirus is clear, today the comprehensive trade system that was a long-awaited dream has been launched and different parts of the country have been coordinated with each other".

Raisi stated, "The government will not pay attention to trivia in any way and will fulfil its main mission in delivering honest service to the people."

Stating that the country's economy needs serious surgery, Raisi said, "Serious capital for this surgery is reputation and we are ready to sacrifice our reputation to reform and reorganise the country's economy."
