Iran Press/ Iran news: Speaking in a meeting with Zhang Ming, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, on Tuesday, Ebrahim Raisi referred to the Islamic Republic of Iran's accession to the organization, and said, "Iran's membership in the SCO, in addition to greater mobility in regional cooperation, will improve trade relations with member countries".
Stating that Iran attaches great importance to cooperation and interaction with the SCO member states, the President stated, "The member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation have significant human resources and population, rich resources and reserves, and a wide geographical area, which has made great capacities for this organization to play a role in effectively dealing with unilateralism and creating regional and international convergence".
The Iranian President also described the exchange of experience and interaction as much as possible among SCO member countries as a factor in strengthening the economic base and expanding the commercial cooperation of the members, and stated, "Considering the membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the efforts of the secretariat of this organization and the cooperation of the officials of the republic Islamic should be such that the backwardness in the implementation and operationalization of the compensation agreements and the cooperation of the parties reach an acceptable level".
Zhang Ming, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, presented a report on the process of Iran joining the SCO and the good relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the member countries, stressing the important role and position of Iran in regional peace, stability, and development, welcoming and expressing satisfaction with Iran's membership in the organization and added, "Iran's proposals for improving the structure of the SCO are being pursued in the secretariat".
Zhang Ming said, "We are confident that Iran can be an active and constructive member in expanding the sphere of action and authority of the SCO in order to achieve its goals, considering its rich history and civilization background".
