Qeshm (IP) - Pre-commissioning stages of the first phase of the Qeshm heavy crude oil refinery have commenced in Hormozgan province, southern Iran.

Iran Press/Iran News: The pre-commissioning stages of the first phase of the Qeshm Heavy Crude Oil Refinery in Hormozgan province, southern Iran, have started with a daily production capacity of 35,000 barrels of heavy oil and will be fully operational within the next 6 months.

The investment for the commissioning of the entire Qeshm heavy crude oil refinery has been announced as 135 million Euros.

With the first part of this industrial project being opened, jobs would be directly created for at least 250 people and indirectly for more than a thousand others. The export target market of Qeshm heavy crude oil refinery has been announced to include African countries and India, which, according to Qassem Mahmoudi, CEO of the refinery, will improve Iran's ranking in the global oil markets.

Mahmoudi also said that the refinery has registered a record of 9 million accident-free hours in terms of safety, health, and environment.

The construction of Qeshm heavy crude oil refinery on a 46-hectare land, located 45 km from Qeshm city, has started in 2017.
