Iran Press/ Iran news: The traditional Qalishuyan ritual in Ardehal of Kashan is several thousand years old and is known as one of Iran's most important religious rituals.
The ritual is held every year on the second Friday of the month of Mehr at the holy shrine of Imamzadeh Sultan Ali bin Muhammad Baqir (AS) in Ardehal.
It is the only traditional-religious ceremony in Iran that is held based on the solar date and is a symbolic display of the funeral and burial of Hazrat Sultan Ali, the son of Imam Muhammad Baqir (AS).
Simultaneously with the performance of this traditional ritual, a mourning ceremony is also held in the courtyard of Sultan Ali's shrine.
The traditional Qalishuyan ritual in Ardehal was registered in the list of UNESCO's cultural and spiritual heritage in December 2012.
The ritual is of interest to foreign tourists. This ceremony was not held for two years due to the pandemic, and this year it was held with the significant participation of the people of Ardehal.
