London(IP)- People in the different walks of life and civil and environmental activists demonstrated in the streets of central London following the approval of the government's new anti-refugee law, as well as in protest against the violation of the British government's environmental commitments.

Iran PressEurope: After rallying in front of the British Ministry of Home Affairs, the protesters with the slogans "End racism and anti-immigrant approaches " and "Stop the destruction of the environment" passed through the central streets of London and gathered in front of the Parliament building and the 10 Downing Street.

The demonstrators on Saturday evening considered the British government's double standards toward the Ukrainian asylum seekers and asylum seekers from Asian and African countries and Muslims as an example of structural racism in this country.

A British citizen told an Iran press correspondent on the sidelines of anti-government protests in London: "Every day is a day to stand against racism and capitalism, and we protest against the government's anti-immigration bill."

This female protester stated: "With the final approval of this bill, the rights of immigrants will be severely limited, and this is a racist behavior against those who flee from war, poverty, and environmental crisis, which the British government also played a role in creating them."

Meredith, an environmental activist and a member of " Just Stop the Oil" environmental activist group, also told the Iran Press correspondent in London: The government has imposed punitive laws on immigrants and has a hostile view of them, despite the fact that a large part of migration is due to climate change, war and social inequalities.

Another British citizen participating in the demonstration against the British government's racist policies also told the Iranpress correspondent: "The West is committing a criminal act against the environment."

This British woman added: "Harming the environment will harm everyone and this danger has already affected many parts of the world and people are suffering from it."

Catherine, the pastor of two churches in Hatfield and Lemsford , Hertfordshire, where the anti-government demonstrations were held in London, also told Iranpress correspondent: "If we gather together and are united, we can do something to prevent the destruction of the environment, and I hope we can make changes in the current situation."

Following the approval of the British government's bill on asylum seekers in the British House of Commons, the United Nations and human rights organizations supporting the rights of immigrants considered the British government's anti-immigration bill and the criminalization of asylum seekers to be contrary to humanitarian principles and international conventions and called for its revision.
