Rome (IP) - Hundreds of managers of Italian medical equipment companies gathered in Rome on Tuesday evening to protest the government's policy in the health sector.

Iran PressEurope: According to Iran Press, Following economic problems, the Italian government has obliged medical device companies to provide part of the government credits for the purchase of hospital equipment.

The bill was approved eight years ago by the government following the intensification of the economic crisis in Italy, but it was not implemented in the past years due to the protests.

The manager of one of the Italian companies told IranPress reporter in Rome on the sidelines of a rally: "This law will cause the closure of 4,000 companies supplying hospital devices and the unemployment of 100,000 people." Emphasizing that the government's request is against the Italian constitution, he clarified: "Medical device companies have sold these devices to hospitals through tender offers and at the price set by the government." Protesters in the Rome rally warned that the action of the Italian government will not only cause the closure of many medical companies but also state hospitals and medical centers will face the risk of a shortage of devices.
