Tbilisi (IP) - Protesters gathered in front of the Georgian parliament building as the 11th term of the country's parliament opened.

Iran Press/Europe: According to Iran Press, opposition parties aligned with the protesters and the opposition did not attend the opening ceremony of the new Georgian parliament in Tbilisi on Monday.

The majority of the 11th term of the Georgian parliament is held by the Georgian Dream party, which won the most votes in the October 26, 2024 elections and was declared the winner of the elections.

The Georgian Dream Party has 89 representatives in the new parliament. However, supporters of the majority in the Georgian parliament welcomed the start of the new term of the institution. The Georgian parliament has 150 seats.

Protesters in front of the Georgian parliament building declared that they did not accept the new parliament and that new parliamentary elections should be held.

This is while the Georgian Central Election Commission has confirmed the results of the October 26 election, but protesters and the opposition, supported by the West, continue to protest.

Georgian police forces were widely present in front of the parliament building to provide security for the deputies.204
