Tehran (IP) - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian delivered a speech at the Iranian Parliament on Wedensday defending his proposed ministers before Parliament starts voting on the qualification of proposed nominees.

After the President's speech, the Iranian Parliament members began voting to approve or disapprove of the proposed ministers of President Masoud Pezeshkian's new administration.

The Iranian lawmakers voted on whether to agree, disagree, or abstention the proposed ministers of Iran's new administration.

After 5 days of discussion in the Iranian Parliament, MPs on Wednesday finalized their vote on approval or disapproval of 19 nominees of president for the 14th administration of the 9th Iranian president.

Last week, the Iranian lawmakers started debates on the credentials and backgrounds of 19 individuals on the shortlist for the cabinet of Pezeshkian, with the formal sessions on votes of confidence slated for Wednesday, August 21.

After the martyrdom of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on May 19, Masoud Pezeshkian won the highest number of votes in the first round of the presidential election on June 28 and secured victory in the runoff election on July 5.

President Pezeshkian is the 9th president of the Islamic Republic of Iran and his administration is the 14th administration after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and will hold office for four years.
