Tehran (IP) - Iran's President Hassan Rouhani inaugurated four water and power resource development projects in the Iranian capital of Tehran via video conferencing.

Iran PressIran News: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani via video conferencing inaugurated Parand steam power plant unit and three wastewater treatment facilities in the cities of Eslamshahr, Malard, and Safadasht, around the capital.

These four projects have been operational with 2,800 billion Tomans investments in Tehran province in the framework of the program called 'A-B-Iran' which started in the year 2019.

The national initiative by the Ministry of Energy launched in September 2019 to implement 227 energy projects worth 33,000 billion Tomans in 31 provinces.

Speaking in the inauguration ceremony of 4 major Ministry of Energy’s projects in Tehran, Hassan Rouhani thanked the Minister of Energy and all those who worked in the wastewater treatment plants and the Parand power plant to put these projects into operation.

President Rouhani: Iran at the fight with COVID-19 and US sanctions virus

President Rouhani noted that these inaugurations had an important message for the Iranian nation, “The great nation of Iran and all private, public companies, workers and engineers, despite fighting against the coronavirus on one front, are engaged in economic activities and as well as construction and development  projects in the other side by observing health protocols.”

Referring to the fact that the year 1399 (2020) had been named ‘Surge in Production’ by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Iran’s President added that the implementation of these four projects was the first important step taken in the first month of the current Iranian year.

“People should know that we are at war with two viruses, COVID-19 and US Cruel Sanctions. But we will do our best to reduce the hardship on the people,” the President stressed.

Following the outbreak of coronavirus, despite pressure from the international community including world leaders on the US government to lift its illegal sanctions against Iran and other countries, Washington has not only refused to lift its sanctions but has increased its sanctions and maximum pressure campaign against Iran.

The COVID-19 global pandemic that has swept into at least 185 countries, has infected more than 2,065,000 and killed nearly 137,000 people.

In Iran so far, more than 76,000 people infected with the Coronavirus and  4,777 people died. Near 50,000 patients have been recovered.
