Iran Press/ Middle East: With the help of donors, the Yemeni Foundation aims to alleviate the suffering of those in need in the month of Ramadan.
The distribution of 550,000 food baskets among the 38,000 needy Yemeni families is planned in the first phase.
The Yemeni Foundation is working to strengthen solidarity among the Yemeni people in various fields, including poverty alleviation, siege, and the implementation of development and service projects in various parts of Yemen.
Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen since March 2015 to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed more than 20,000 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.
Yemen is the world’s largest humanitarian crisis with more than 22 million people in need and is seeing a spike in needs, fueled by ongoing conflict, a collapsing economy, and diminished social services and livelihoods.
The blockade on Yemen has smothered humanitarian deliveries of food and medicine to the import-dependent state.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres last month called for ceasefires in conflicts across the world to allow countries to focus on the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Saudi-led coalition announced on Friday said that it was extending a unilateral ceasefire in Yemen by one month.
