Iran Press / Iran news: The large tents (known as Mawkib in Arabic) of Arbaeen, provide all kinds of services to pilgrims, and these have been set up in Shalamcheh a southern Iranian region bordering Iraq, with only a few weeks to go till the Arbaeen great march.
Millions of pilgrims are preparing to converge on the Iraqi holy cities of Najaf and Karbala to attend Arbaeen mourning processions marking the fortieth day after the martyrdom of their third Imam, Hussein ibn Ali (PBUH).
Arbaeen, which is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) every year in which a huge crowd of Shias flock to the Iraqi city of Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (PBUH) is located, to perform mourning rites.
Every year Shia Muslims from across the globe converge on Iraq to commemorate Arba'een. Pilgrims travel miles on foot to reach the shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in Karbala.
