Iran Press/Sport news: In commemoration of late Qods Force Commander Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani and his companions, the International Festival of Zoorkhaneh sports (dedicated to Martyrs of Resistance) was held Friday night at the Amir Arab Zoorkhaneh in Birjand, central Khorasan province, eastern Iran.
Zurkhaneh is a Persian type of sports club where athletes undergo rigorous regiment training under the direction of masters known Morshed.
Athletes from Afghanistan, Iraq, Indonesia, and Uganda who have participated at this festival, last week, traveled to South-Khorasan to declare their readiness attending global traditional sports. The event is aimed at honoring and commemorating the resistance martyrs and spreading the Iranian traditional sport in the Islamic countries.
The head of South-Khorasan Athletic and Iranian style wrestling committee Mahdi Ghammari told Iran Press news agency in Birjand: "The World Federation of Pahlevani and zoorkhaneh rituals provided Iran with the opportunity to hold sports readiness camp for four foreign teams in South Khorasan Province, after detailed evaluation."
The third round of the Pahlevani and zoorkhaneh and World Wrestling Championships will be held from 18 to 22 January 2020 in Bojnourd, in north Khorasan province. 101/211
