On Christmas Day in 1983, the southwestern Iranian town of Masjid Soleiman was targeted by the former Ba'athist regime of Iraq, when a number of missiles slammed into a residential neighbourhood of the town.

Iran Press/Iran news: Exactly 35 years ago, on 25 December 1983, Iraqi Ba'athist forces fired a number of rockets and missiles at a residential neighbourhood, in the southwestern Iranian town of Masjid Soleiman, killing at least 30 people. The Iraqi missile attack also resulted in 92 people being injured,  with 50 homes being completely destroyed.

The Iraqi-imposed war on Iran lasted eight years, from September 1980 to August 1988.
