Iran Press/Iran news: 'Mokeb' tents which normally house the devoted pilgrims and followers of Hazrat Abolfazl Abbas (PBUH) are now being used to accommodate flood-hit people in various regions of Khuzestan province, who are suffering from the previous floods or are in danger of being hit by fresh floods.
According to an Iran Press report, the 'Mokeb' tents are also used to distribute hot dishes, and bottles of mineral water, among the flood-affected people.
Having visited the flood-hit areas of southwestern Khuzestan province, including the city of Susangerd which is currently inundated by floodwaters, the top commander of the elite IRGC Quds Force, Major General Ghasem Soleimani has emphasized that the 'Mokeb' tents will be used to provide the people in flood-ravaged areas with the required services and relief assistance.
Flash floods hit 400 villages and cities in 26 provinces across Iran. Meanwhile, rescue teams, Iranian armed forces, and volunteers from across the country have been making every effort to limit the flood damage as much as possible, and to help out the victims.
'Mokebs' are special tents that are established along the way to the Iraqi holy city of Karbala every year during the Arbaeen trek -- which commemorates the 40th day of Imam Hossein’s martyrdom in the battle of Karbala in 680 AD. The tents serve the pilgrims of the third Shia Imam, who revisit Karbala on foot (Arbaeen march) to show their pledge of support to the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny) 103/211/203
