Accra(IP) - Thousands of people in Ghana have rallied in the Accra capital to express solidarity with Palestinians amid Israel’s ongoing bombardment of Gaza.

Iran PressAfrica: Protesters gathered at Obra Square circle on Thursday for the rally organized by the Accra collective of the socialists movement of Ghana SMG and The Palestine solidarity campaign movement to show displeasure with the current brutality by the Israeli forces in Gaza-Palestine.

The supporters, including women and children, marched for several kilometers to reach the agreed protest venue. They held banners and posters with slogans opposing Israel and the United States and in support of the Palestinians and chanting “Free Free Palestine.”

"Stop the Gaza Genocide," read one banner, “Killing children every minute,” another banner read.

“We are demanding from the Ghanaian government to ask the Israeli Ambassador to leave, we are asking our government to recall our Ambassador in Tel Aviv, we are calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, we are calling for the immediate release of all hostages and we are calling for the end of the occupation of Palestine, we believe that Palestine should be free and for Palestine to be free, we all have to come out and protest and express our anger about the genocide that is unfolding,” said Hon Ras Mubarak, A former member of Ghana’s parliament in an interview with the Iran Press.

He urged the leaders of the Muslim world to rise for Gaza and to boycott any Israeli products and activities.

A member of the organizers, Saiyd Naza urged all to stop following the Western media and its cohorts, as they spread only lies and misinformation.

“This is a mere holocaust that is going on and has been captured on camera, it’s genocide it is ethnic cleansing of unprecedented proportions and the world is awakening to this reality history is in the making, and this should not be the end of our solidarity with the Palestinian people.”

The Grand Imam of the Shia community Ghana Alhaji Kamaludeen Abubakar who also took part in the protest, called for the change of the narratives been meted out by the Israeli and its supporters.

“We need to change the narrative, those who are rather defending themselves are the Palestine,Israelis are occupiers and they have to stop this occupation.”

The secretary to the Ghana Trade Union Congress Mrs Naa Ayele expressed her fury on what is happening especially to the women and children of Gaza, according to her it’s barbaric and inhuman “Please stop this senseless war, it doesn’t make sense to kill little children, if you have a conscience please stop this, women are suffering with little children too suffering, are your human beings with sense,” she asked.

The leader of Anti oppressors community of Ghana Mr Frank has sent a strong warning to Israel and the international community, USA, UK, France, Canada, and international bodies and made it clear that Ghana resists oppression.

Many Palestinians living in Ghana were present at the demonstration and they showed their solidarity and support to the people in Palestine by calling for a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict against Palestine.

“The issue of Palestine is not a matter of Muslim issue, it’s a humanitarian issue. Just like the Muslims the Christians are suffering as well, just three days ago one of the oldest churches that is reported to have had the peaceful feet of Jesus Christ was bombarded because they thought that some Hamas members were there or what not. How can someone who doesn’t have humanity treat people with humanity, and one more thing what is taken by force cannot come back except by force. Free free Palestine.”
