Tehran (IP) - A ceremony was held in Tehran to commemorate the late Brigadier General Hossein Hamedani, one of the great Iranian commanders who took part in the fight against ISIS in Syria.

Iran PressIran News: The people of Tehran have gathered in Imam Hossein Square today, Tuesday, October 11, to commemorate the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) commander. 

General Hamedani, also named Haj Hossein Hamedani, is known as one of the greatest commanders of the war against ISIS in Syria, and the master of asymmetrical wars in West Asia, and the second man of the IRGC.

He went to help Syria in 2011 as a strategic commander. The formation of popular defense groups was the Iranian commander's idea to save Syria from the US-backed terrorist group.

Finally, Hossein Hamedani was martyred in 2015 in the southeast of Aleppo.
