Iran Press/ Iran news: Iranian government officials, rice importers, businessmen, media representatives, diplomats, Trade and Investment officers from embassies and members of Pakistani Community attended the event.
Hooman Fathi, DG international Affairs Ministry of Agriculture of Iran welcomed the REAP delegation as Chief Guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ali Hussam Asghar, Chairman REAP highlighted the export potential of the Pakistani rice to Iran, which has grown to over 30% of the Iranian market share.
He emphasized that the quality and standard of the Pakistani rice was unmatched, which was evident from its rising demand in the region and beyond.
Ambassador of Pakistan H.E., Rahim Hayat Qureshi stressed the significance of growing exchanges between the private sector on both sides to strengthen bilateral economic relations between Pakistan and Iran and to reach the target of $5 billion in bilateral trade.
He highlighted that the Rice Festival was part of a series of activities to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of independence of Pakistan and 75 years of establishment of diplomatic relations with Iran.
At the end of the event delectable Pakistani and Iranian dishes made with Pakistani long grain aromatic Basmati rice were served.
