Iran Press/Asia: According to AVA news agency, Mohammad Sadegh Khan, Pakistan's Special Representative for Afghanistan, said in a meeting with the Chairman of the Supreme National Reconciliation Council on the sidelines of the peace talks in Qatar that Islamabad welcomes peace talks between Afghans and Taliban in Qatar and supports the end of the war in Afghanistan.
Mohammad Sadegh Khan called the start of peace talks between Afghans and Taliban in Doha a positive and historic development and expressed hope that peace would return to Afghanistan as soon as possible.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Supreme National Reconciliation Council of Afghanistan also thanked Pakistan for its positive role in the Doha peace talks and reaffirmed Afghanistan's determination to achieve lasting peace.
Abdullah Abdullah added that the role of neighboring countries and regional consensus is important for achieving peace in Afghanistan.
The opening meeting of talks between Afghans and the Taliban began on Saturday in Doha, Qatar.
