Iran Press/ Asia: Pakistan’s Senate or upper house of parliament unanimously adopted a resolution rejecting U.S. President Donald Trump's so-called 'Deal of the Century' plan which was announced last month.
The resolution, tabled by Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan from Jamaat-e-Islami, the country’s main religious party, was supported by all treasury and opposition members, Pakistan state television reported.
Expressing concern over Trump’s so-called 'Deal of the Century', which illegally declared Al- Quds as the 'capital of Israel', the senators said it was violating the rightful sovereignty of Palestinians in favor of their oppressors, the Israeli regime.
The resolution by Pakistani Senate also called for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state, the safe return of all Palestinians to their homes and lands currently in illegitimate possession of Israeli settlers in breach of international law and a halt to acts of aggression against Palestinians.
Trump administration unveiled the so-called 'Deal of the Century' recently, drawing condemnations from Palestine and the Islamic world that believe the plan to be in clear violation of the Palestinian’s rights. The EU also rejected the deal.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu voiced support to Trump’s plan and expressed readiness for the immediate launch of peace talks with the Palestinians. Meanwhile, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas turned down Trump’s deal.
