Iran Press/Iran news: Imran Khan made the remarks Sunday in a meeting with Razavi Khorasan Governor Alireza Razm Hosseini upon his arrival at Mashad international airport.
Pakistan is trying to open doors to foreign tourists so Pakistan tourism minister is accompanying delegation to Iran, he said, Iran Press reported.
Referring to 100,000 Pakistani pilgrims visiting Mashad, he said three of the accompanying ministers have so far visited Mashad. He also sympathized with victims of the recent floods in Iranian provinces.
He also pointed to the position of Khorasan in the region and expressed interest to visit Nader shah tomb in Mashad.
In the meeting with the Pakistani premier, the newly-appointed custodian of Imam Reza Shrine, Hojjatolesm Marvi praised the people of Pakistan for preserving their Islamic beliefs, saying that the Pakistanis’ interest in Iran's Islamic Revolution and its founder Late Imam Khomeini lay the ground for expanding bilateral relations between the two nations.
Marvi referred to the Pakistani pilgrims who travel to Mashhad to visit Imam Reza holy shrine, saying that the shrine authorities will spare no efforts in coordinating with the Iranian foreign ministry to facilitate the pilgrimages of the Pakistanis in the holy Iranian city.
The newly-appointed custodian of Imam Reza Shrine went on to underline that strengthening Iran-Pakistan similarities would neutralize enemies’ plots against the unity of the two nations.
The Pakistani delegation are scheduled to arrive in Tehran from Mashhad within hours to meet with high ranking Iranian officials.
Imran Khan’s trip is taking place upon an official invitation of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
The trip by Pakistan's Prime Minister is expected to boost and further develop relations between Tehran and Islamabad, especially those related to regional cooperation in fighting terrorism and safeguarding borders in line with good neighborliness and historic and religious commonalities between the two countries. 101/202/213
