Iran Press/ America: Mexico is ready to contribute to the initiatives for settling the conflict in Ukraine only if both Kiev and Moscow participate in them, Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Monday.
"If both Russia and Ukraine agree to seek a solution to achieve peace, we will participate. If the conflicting parties agree and convene [talks] for that purpose," he told a news conference.
Lopez Obrador emphasized that Mexico was ready to "help find points of convergence" if "both countries" - Ukraine and Russia - participate.
"We do not want this war to become commonplace," he added.
On July 29, The Wall Street Journal quoted sources as saying that Saudi Arabia planned to hold peace talks on Ukraine in Jeddah on August 5-6. According to the newspaper, senior officials from 30 countries will attend the meeting.
Russia is not on the list. It is said that the European Union, Britain, Poland and South Africa have already confirmed their participation in the consultations, and the presence of US presidential national security advisor Jake Sullivan is expected. 219
