New governor of Iran's Central Bank appointed

Chief of Iran's presidential staff announced on Wednesday that Akbar Komijani had been appointed as the new governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

Iran PressIran news: Speaking to reporters, Mahmoud Vaezi said that the appointment was made after the approval of members of the cabinet.

He is replacing Abdolnasser Hemmati, who ran for the 13th Presidential Elections in Iran on June 18th but failed.

Komijani undertook the role of caretaker for the CBI, but, according to Vaezi, the Central Bank could not be managed by a caretaker, so a governor should be appointed when an ex-chief resigns or is not able to continue its work.
