Major General Yahya Safavi, the senior military advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, spoke on Monday about the visit of military delegations from eight countries currently undergoing national defense courses at the High National Defense University in Iran.

Iran PressIran news:  This scientific trip aimed to showcase the Islamic Republic of Iran’s advancements in defense and security in the Persian Gulf region and Strait of Hormuz, including aspects like energy, industry, transit, and strengthening relationships between Iran and neighboring countries such as India, China, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Oman, Yemen, and others.

Major General Safavi highlighted that during their three-day visit to southern Iran, the foreign students explored key sites including Bandar Abbas, the Persian Gulf Star Refinery, Hormozgan Steel Company, shipbuilding industries, Bamu Island’s ecological environment, the Jamaran destroyer, and various capabilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy.

He stressed the importance of scientific diplomacy with a defense and security focus, noting that student exchanges among the world’s militaries serve as a significant avenue for bolstering defense diplomacy. Currently, with the approval of Iran’s General Staff of the Armed Forces, numerous military personnel from different countries are undertaking military courses at the High National Defense University.

Major General Safavi emphasized that defense diplomacy between Iran’s armed forces and neighboring and transregional countries brings peace and security to aligned governments and peoples. He noted that a shared understanding of common threats and interests requires active defense diplomacy.

Additionally, he pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently sought to establish defense, security, intelligence, economic, cultural, and political relationships with its 15 neighboring countries and key powers across Asia, such as India, China, and Russia. This effort aims to play a significant role in fostering stability and long-term security, particularly within organizations like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS.
