Ankara (IP): The Mid-Sha'aban celebration ceremony was held with the presence of Iranians living in Turkey in the cultural attaché office of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ankara.

Iran PressAsia: Lectures, music, and eulogies to praise the 12th Shia Imam (May Allah hasten his Glad advent) were among the plans in this ceremony.

Mid-Shaban is the 15th day of the eighth Islamic month (Sha'aban) of the Islamic lunar calendar. The Twelver Shias spend the entire night (from Sunset till dawn) of the 15th of Sha'ban performing prayers and recitations of the Holy Quran.

A landmark in the Shia calendar is the 15th of Shaban which marks the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi or Muhammad al-Mahdi (p.b.u.h.). (AS), the twelfth Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) who is known to be the last savior of world people.

Imam Mahdi, according to Shia belief, was born on July 29, 869 CE (Sha’ban 15, 255 AH) in Samarra city of Iraq.

Shias believe in him as their twelfth holy Imam, an important figure, who, all Muslims believe, will eliminate tyranny and injustice in the world. 219
