Tehran (IP) - The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the deliberate targeting of journalists' accommodation in southern Lebanon, calling it another example of Israel's brutal war crimes in a tweet.

Iran PressIran news: Lebanese state media NNA reported on Friday, the deaths of three journalists in an airstrike on a journalists' hotel in the village of Hasbaya, southern Lebanon. According to local sources, the occupying army attacked a hotel in Hasbaya, where journalists were staying, targeting them while they slept. The attack resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including Ghassan Najjar, a photographer for Al Mayadeen, Mohammad Reda, a live broadcast technician for Al Mayadeen, and Wassim Qassem, a cameraman for Al Manar television.

Esmaeil Baghaei, speaking on X, described the deliberate targeting of journalists' residences in southeastern Lebanon early Friday, which resulted in the deaths of Ghassan Najjar, cameraman Wissam Qassem, and broadcast technician Mohammad Reza from Al-Mayadeen and Al-Manar channels, as another example of Israel's brutal war crimes.

Baghaei condemned the act in the strongest terms, stating that the Israeli regime has killed 180 journalists and media personnel in the past year alone.

In his tweet, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson highlighted two critical points; Journalists and media personnel enjoy full protection under IHL.

Geneva Conventions of 1949, in particular Third Geneva Convention, and the 1977 Additional Protocols, in particular article 79 of Additional Protocol I regarding protection of journalists engaged in dangerous professional missions in areas of armed conflict, grant journalists and their equipment immunity as civilians and civilian objects.
