Mexico plans to lodge a complaint with the trade facilitation committee of the North American free trade agreement, accusing cargo transportation inspections by the U.S. side of causing millions of dollars in losses, the Mexican Economy Ministry said Monday.

Iran Press/America: Since May 8, the government of Texas has been inspecting cargo vehicles at the border crossing between the Mexican city of Matamoros and the US city of Brownsville, Texas, in a bid to prevent entry of undocumented migrants.

However, the measure is generating "million-dollar losses" for both Mexican and US companies as a delay of up to 27 hours has made perishables quickly spoil, the ministry said in a press release.

The ministry said it has already initiated talks with the Office of the United States Trade Representative to address the issue.

Even so, Mexico will submit its complaint to the trade facilitation committee of the Mexico-US-Canada Agreement, it said.
