Iran Press/ Iran News: Opposition members of the Israeli Knesset, or parliament, accused members of the governing coalition of attempting a “hostile takeover of Israel”.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to speak on Monday, according to Israeli media reports, as opposition grows to his bitterly contested plans to overhaul the country’s judiciary.
Netanyahu has been locked in talks with members of his far-right governing coalition, after reports earlier on Monday that he would announce a halt to his plans to change the judiciary.
Tens of thousands of Israeli unifying and protested against Netanyahu’s judicial reform plans due to their concern for “Israel’s future”.
Top officials in his government include controversial figures like Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who ran together during the elections under the Religious Zionism alliance, which became the third-largest bloc in the Knesset.
Both support expanding illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank and annexing Palestinian land and are notorious for inciting violence against Palestinians. Both are settlers living deep inside the occupied West Bank.
