Iran Press/ Asia: Lotfollah Haqparast, a senior member of "Shia, Sunnis Islamic Brotherhood Council of Afghanistan" in an interview with Iran Press, said: "Martyr Soleimani's goals and thoughts were considered as a role model for all Muslims, particularly the Resistant Forces of Afghanistan."
"General Soleimani bravely sacrificed his life on the battlefield against ISIS and with martyrdom in final became immortal," Haqparatst said.
He made the remarks on the sidelines of a conference held at the Al-Mustafa University of Kabul on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Lt. Gen Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis martyrdom.
General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) deputy head Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were assassinated along with their companions in a US drone strike authorized by former President Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
They were highly popular because of their crucial role in eliminating the US-backed ISIS terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.
General Soleimani was assassinated in Baghdad airport while he arrived in Iraq at the official invitation of the Iraqi government.
