Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro in a letter to people of the world rejects US criminal acts and condemn Trump Administration’s Hypocritical Indictment of high-ranking Venezuelan Officials

Iran PressAmerica: The President of the Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, sent this Monday a communication to more than 100 leaders and social movements in the world, through which he denounces the serious events that are taking place against peace and stability of the Latin American country from the United States.

"In greeting you, with affection, I take the liberty of addressing you on the occasion of denouncing the severe events taking place against the peace and stability of Venezuela, at a time when the concern of the States and Governments should be focused on the protection of the life and health of their citizens, due to the acceleration of the COVID-19 pandemic. As it is publicly known, last March 26, the government of the United States announced a very serious action against a group of high officials of the Venezuelan State, including the Constitutional President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro." the letter stated.

It went on as: "This action consisted of the presentation of a formal accusation before the American judicial system, which is not only illegal in itself but also seeks to support a false accusation of drug trafficking and terrorism, with the sole objective of simulating the alleged judicialization of the Venezuelan authorities.

This American performance includes the unusual offer of an international reward to anyone who provides information about Venezuela's President and the high officials, an operation aimed at attempting against the life of  Nicolás Maduro, his family members and high State officials; as well as attacking civil and military objectives in our country.

The US has refused to recognize the democratically elected Venezuelan President Maduro and has been seeking to install one to its liking, currently Juan Guaido. What the US is doing is ordering the arrest of world leaders it does not approve of, putting a bounty on their heads.

This decision of the US constitutes a further escalation in coercive measures against a sovereign country, which has included sanctions so extreme as to create a blockade, costing Venezuela 40,000 lives in a period of just over a year and $116 billion in lost revenue.

It is well-documented that two close and long-time US allies in Latin America, the governments of Colombia and Honduras, have been heavily involved in narco-trafficking. The last Latin American leader the US charged with drug trafficking was Panama’s Manuel Noriega who was running drugs with the CIA. The US then invaded his country and later imprisoned him in Miami.

Maduro in a letter slams US criminal acts against Venezuela

The US government, which to date has more than 75,233 cases of coronavirus, has once again shown its criminal and genocidal nature against its own people by failing to take the measures recommended by the World Health Organization to prevent the large-scale spread of the virus. The measures taken by the US government have only been in favor of the interests of large corporations and to the detriment of the US people.

Alongside this infamous behavior, unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela have been increased, in flagrance of the call by many countries and international organizations, such as the UN. Maintaining these suffocating measures against our economy is, in practice, a continuous and systematic genocide, which has already claimed the lives of at least 40,000 Venezuelans, by perpetrators who do not respect international law.

The decision made today by the US Department of Justice to incorporate various authorities of the Venezuelan government, including the President of the Republic Nicolás Maduro, on the list of drug traffickers, is new aggression against the country which must be repudiated by all peace-loving forces and those which support the inalienable right of the people to decide their future. We denounce that this action seeks to continue to build the framework of a pseudo-legality that justifies the interventionary imperialist plans against Venezuela.

In this regard, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi while condemning the US baseless accusations against the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.said on Friday 27 March that no rule in the international law allows the US to abuse its judicial procedures to interfere in other countries' internal affairs and prepare grounds for coup, overthrow, or aggression.
