Lt. Gen. Soleimani martyrdom reinforces unity among Iranians: Official

Tehran (IP): The chairman of the National Olympic Committee said that Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani's martyrdom reinforced the unity of the Iranian nation and the region.

Iran Press/Iran news: The chairman of the National Olympic Committee  Reza Salehi Amiri said there definitely will be radical changes in the Middle East noting that the enemies particularly the US will regret this heinous terrorist crime that they have committed.

"The Islamic Revolution will be spread beyond Iraq, Syria, and Yemen. After his martyrdom, the sports societies' determination will get stronger to face and defeat the enemy," Salehi Amir added.

Head of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps's (IRGC) Sarallah Headquarter Brigadier General Mohammad Kossari said that Martyred Lt.Gen. Qasem Soleimani is not only a national figure in Iran but also in Lebanon; that is why the US and its allies such as the Saudi and Zionist regimes try to hit Hezbollah through their proxies.

Brigadier General Kossari said the US talk of human rights but commits big crimes.  

The ceremony for renewing allegiance to the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani was held at the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs in Tehran.

Minister of Sports, Head of the National Olympic Committee, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commanders, Basij commanders, families of martyred athletes and sports champions have attended the ceremony.

Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani was assassinated along with several senior members of Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) on Friday Morning 3 January at Baghdad International airport.

Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani was awarded by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as the first Iranian military official to hold Iran’s highest military order, the Order of Zulfaqar after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
