Leader to address great nation of Iran on the occasion of mid-Shaban

Tehran (IP) - The live televised speech of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, will be broadcast on Thursday, April 8 at 11 AM local time (6.30 AM GMT).

Iran Press/Iran news: Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei is going to deliver a live televised speech on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Twelfth and last Shia Imam, Imam Mahdi (A.J) on Sha'ban 15th on the lunar calendar on Thursday 9th April.

The event is going to be broadcast live through Iran’s national television and radio channels as well as Islamic Revolutions' official website and Instagram via the address KHAMENEI.IR.

Iran Press News Agency is going to air the live address of the Leader through satellite transmission and web stream with an exclusive interpretation.

Mid-Sha’ban, the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, marks the joyous occasion. Imam Mahdi, known as the Savior was born almost 1,200 years ago.

Every year, millions of Muslims around the world hold festivities to honor the event.

In Iran, people decorate and light up streets and gather inside mosques and other religious sites nationwide to celebrate the auspicious occasion, but this year, due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, there will be no gathering and mass celebrations.

In Shia eschatology, Imam Mahdi is the prophesied redeemer, who will revive peace, administer justice and rid the world of evil. The occasion which falls on June 3rd this year is a national holiday in Iran.
